Attracting Investment and Promoting Scotland’s Cities

The Scottish Cities Alliance is a unique partnership of Scotland’s eight cities – Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling – and the Scottish Government working collaboratively to promote Scotland’s economic potential.

By working together, the Alliance partners are able to share knowledge and best practice; showcase more than £10 billion worth of investor-ready opportunities across the cities via its online Investment Prospectus and events programme; and foster a policy environment which ensures the cities and their regions have the necessary tools, levers and cooperative frameworks to compete, innovate and drive inclusive growth.

The Alliance team is based within the Technology and Innovation Centre within the Innovation District. This location puts them at the heart of Glasgow’s wider ecosystem with excellent transportation links and within close proximity to the growing developments such as Candleriggs Square and Bruntwood SciTech as well as the huge growth in businesses seen across Glasgow. They share the building with Glasgow’s top innovative businesses like CMAC and Scotland’s only Fraunhofer Centre as well as the Institute for Future Cities putting them at the centre of a thriving hub of entrepreneurship and research – aiding them in their mission to promote Scotland’s economic potential as an attractive place to invest.

The Alliance team also works in close proximity to Glasgow City Council, who are the lead partners on the partnership’s “Scotland’s 8th City – the Smart City” ERDF Programme. This programme aims to advance’s the just transition of Scotland’s cities to net zero carbon and digitally enabled economies, enhancing their attractiveness as investment destinations and accelerating the delivery of smart city services to make Scotland’s cities more attractive, liveable and resilient.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything that we do, and being based within Glasgow City Innovation District allows us to work closely with industry and academia to link the cities to the cutting-edge research, innovation and fresh thinking based here. Our new location has opened up new opportunities for collaboration, furthering our commitment to providing cities with the latest data, intelligence, and best practice.
