Since opening its doors in April 2024, the JPMorganChase Technology Centre on Argyle Street has marked a transformative milestone for Glasgow’s innovation landscape.

Built over five years this 270,000 sq ft ‘vertical campus’ brings together 2,600 technologists under one roof and has boosted JPMorgan’s total headcount in Scotland to 4,000. The centre is among the firm’s 23 global tech centres and focuses entirely on software development, AI, cloud services, site reliability engineering (SRE), and fintech for clients worldwide.

Cutting‑edge workspace

The building boasts open-plan floors, collaboration zones, agile rooms, cafés, games rooms, a wellness studio, and a designated nursing and mindfulness space. The Technology Centre is also sustainably built with photovoltaic solar panels that generate over 90 kW of power, which help offset carbon dioxide emissions and reduce demand from the power grid.  It earned BREEAM “Excellent” and WELL “Gold” certifications for sustainability, health, and well‑being.

JPMorganChase in the community

Beyond internal innovation, the Centre has integrated into the wider Innovation District community in the past year, hosting two Glasgow Tech Week events. They also collaborated with Glasgow City Innovation District for the inaugural “Let’s Talk Product” event. JPMorgan also continues to support school and university outreach through programs like GenerationTech and Tech for Social Good, aiming to close the gender gap and boost STEM participation. Over 75 graduates join the organisation annually, many of them local, highlighting a broader skills-first hiring push supporting regional talent.

Economic & local impact

JPMorgan has pledged £2.9 million in philanthropic capital across Scotland, supporting green-tech, life sciences, and small enterprises. The Centre fosters economic development beyond the building itself, reviving city‑centre footfall, and in turn boosting adjacent hospitality and retail businesses.

As JPMorgan Chase rolls out further events in the Innovation District, scales its mentorship programs, and integrates cutting‑edge AI research, the Argyle Street centre is well positioned to reinforce Glasgow’s status as a global tech destination.
